AHHHHHHH!
We all experience frustration and stress sometimes.
When we automatically react to strong emotions, it doesn’t always turn out well.
Taking time to pause, gives us an opportunity to regain a sense of calm, so we can think more clearly and make wiser choices.
We can help our children develop self-regulation skills by teaching them to pause when they have uncomfortable feelings. Then we can equip them with strategies to calm down before they move on.
This week the Puppet Pals experience a variety of big emotions. They are encouraged to take out an imaginary remote control with the following three buttons:
- Press pause
- Get calm
- Move on
Kids can make connections to the scenarios presented in the videos and learn some calming strategies that they could try the next time they find themselves needing to “Press the Pause Button.”
