Bonus Week: Practicing Gratitude
Teaching our children to show gratitude has benefits for both the recipient as well as the one expressing it. We all like to feel appreciated, but when we appreciate others it improves our own sense of well-being too. Studies have looked at the effects of gratitude on kids’ mental and physical health and found that children who practice gratitude have increased optimism, self-esteem, and resilience.
This week the Puppet Kids and Puppet Pals take time out to notice things in their lives for which they are grateful. They think about why they are grateful and how it makes them feel. Then they come up with ways to show appreciation.
These bonus lessons might be nice to watch with your children the week of Thanksgiving to get them into a grateful mindset.
