Week 11: Practicing Mindfulness
One way to help children regulate their emotions and make better decisions is to practice mindfulness. This teaches them to focus on the present moment, becoming more aware of what is going on both internally and externally. Giving young learners tools to deal with challenging moments can help them to cultivate resilience as they grow.
This week the Puppet Pals face a variety of uncomfortable situations, where practicing mindfulness helps. They learn to communicate their feelings, embrace imperfection, apologize and forgive each other and at the same time add some mindfulness practices to their self-regulation toolbox. When your children watch the videos they can learn and practice the following mindfulness techniques:
- Focus on breathing
- Focus on their senses
- Focus on moving their bodies
- Focus on their imaginations through guided imagery
