Week 29: FRIENDS ARE RESPECTFUL
It doesn’t feel good when we are disrespected. Gaining the respect of our friends is important, even for children. Many classrooms have school expectations posted on their walls, often with Be Respectful at the top of the list. When asked, however, few children can actually define what that really means. Respect is about treating others the way you would like to be treated. Young children will learn this concept best when in the context of real-life circumstances.
This week the Puppet Pals are in situations where they learn the importance of respecting friends’ feelings, physical space, the need to be alone, and words. Kids will be able to relate to being on both sides of each scenario and hopefully, stop and think about how their own actions impact others and if they are showing respect.
