Throughout these lessons, we have been teaching children ways to navigate their world in healthy, responsible, and caring ways. This can be daunting in a world that has challenges around every corner, but we can empower our kids to make a difference by using their time, talents, and resources to make their world a better place. I don’t mean when they grow into adulthood: I mean NOW! We can guide our children in discovering their natural gifts and interests and then help them find ways to use those to reach out to others in their homes, school, community, and world.
If your child notices a need, like an elderly neighbor who is lonely, litter in the park, or a houseless person standing on the roadside, that can lead to a discussion about what they can personally do to help and who they can ask to join them in meeting the need.
This week the Puppet Pals find ways to use their time, talents, and resources to help others in practical ways. They learn that even a simple act of kindness can make the world a better place for someone and that makes them a World Changer. This last lesson of the year brings characters together in a memorable way and will hopefully encourage your own children to find ways to be World Changers too.
This week of lessons includes four scenario videos that you can watch with your students Monday through Thursday, with follow-up questions for class discussions. Make sure to watch and sing along with the Be A World Changer Song on Friday which encourages kids to be World Changers too.
This week also includes a Simple Summary video in Spanish to help those who are developing simple language skills, while focusing on the target social-emotional skill of the week.
