Week 26: WHAT CAN YOU DO? –
We are living in a time when many kids are experiencing big emotions more frequently and with higher intensity. It’s important that our children know that their feelings are OK. However, there are things they can do to handle uncomfortable feelings in healthy ways that don’t intrude on relationships or everyday life.
It’s hard to deal with emotions if we cannot identify them. Teaching our kids to recognize and label what they are feeling is the first step in self-regulation. The next step is to ask, “What can I do about it?” That is what the Puppet Kids are faced with this week. After labeling their feelings, they brainstorm ways to understand and ease those feelings. When children watch the videos, they can join in the problem-solving process and walk away with some practical strategies to handle their own uncomfortable feelings.
